Ray Brown

Thomastik-Infeld met Ray Brown at the Austrian Jazz-Club, "Jazzland" - many years after he began using Thomastik-Infeld strings. Since then, he has illuminated several events of Peter Infeld with his presence. Moreover, whenever he visits Vienna, he is special guest of Thomastik-Infeld and has formed a close friendship with Peter Infeld and the company.
As one of the greatest masters of the jazz tradition, he is also a patron of unknown talent, which he takes on international tours with his band. In this way he manages to bring many yet undiscovered musicians into the mainstream, and thus helps to constantly reinvent and innovate his genre of jazz.
It is a pleasure to watch this old master at play, presenting every song with uniqueness, great joy, and new spark.

Ray Brown started his career in the 40s as founding member of Dizzy Gillespie/Charlie Parker Quintet. Later he became musical director and husband of Ella Fitzgerald and manager of Quincy Jones. For 16 years he was a member of the Oscar Peterson Trio and regular bassist on Norman Grantz's "Jazz at the Philharmonic" tours. Ray Brown can be heard playing the bass on over 2000 recordings, which makes him one of the most recorded artists in music history. Ray Brown won Grammys, Readers' Polls, Critics' Polls, you name it — and has played at every major nightclub and concert hall in the world.

This year, Ray Brown and his trio played at the Viennese "Konzerthaus" and accepted an invitation for dinner with Thomastik-Infeld. This was a chance to also meet singers Kevin Mahogany, Nancy King and Diana Krall who he had brought along on this new  European tour which promoted his new record, "Some of My best Friends are Singers".
